Summer In The City.. Beat The heat

Heatwave has struck in the UK, a few days of heat and we’re happy, a few weeks and we’re all complaining. Our Country just wasn’t designed for this weather, from the architecture to our wardrobes, we are not prepared! Go to New York in the summer and temperatures are regularly at over 30 yet the women look ‘on point’ walking to work in their ‘Summer Wardrobes’ of sassy, summer, office-appropriate dresses, cool culottes and chic sandals. These women are used to having a distinct summer season every year and so their wardrobes are prepared for a summer in the city.

“But I have a Summer Wardrobe”, you say, “so why do I have I nothing to wear to work?” The simple reason for this is that our ‘summer wardrobes’ are not really that at all, they are actually ‘Holiday Wardrobes’. The difference being that our little strappy dresses and playsuits look wonderful as poolside cover-ups but when it comes to everyday city life, these pieces look totally inappropriate even in hot weather.

The heatwave may only last a few weeks so we don’t want to over-invest but pick out great pieces in the Sales that have longevity beyond this summer and you’re winning!
