Ten

Hello Happy New Year to you all.

I hope you had a wonderful Festive Season.

2019 marks ten whole years of Creative Writes! This feels like a significant Birthday, so we are going to celebrate…

There will be a special Words & Wine Workshop to celebrate our Birthday in March 2019 and we are plotting other ideas…watch this space.

Words & Wine Workshops begin again on Thursday 31 January, 8-10pm and we are already half full. Book soon: http://www.creativewrites.co.uk/words-wine/ The Green Shed is our wonderful venue.

Words & Wine. The Green Shed. N10

Read all about the Shed here: https://thegreenshed.format.com/

I’ve been thinking of the number ten. I’ve been thinking about time and counting. Try the following free flow writing prompts:

10 wishes; 10 months; 10 years; 10 milestones. Begin with your own POV but also use them to delve into character. Write for ten minutes (of course!). Keep the pen moving! Don’t think!

I look forward to new opportunities, new experiences & us all filling our notebooks with tens & tens of words! I am kicking off my writing year by returning to the wonderful Shed in Muswell Hill, N10. I will be writing in preparation for another Words From The Shed Workshop on 9 February 2019, 3-5pm. We will spend a cosy Saturday afternoon writing, with coffee & cake to keep us going. I will be sharing the processes learned from my Shed timehttp://www.creativewrites.co.uk/words-from-the-shed/

Providing space to write is an integral part of our work and 9 January 2019, 7.30-9.30pm sees the return of Creative Writes Space To Write Wednesdays at the inspiring North Bank/Muswell Hill Methodist Church, N10: http://www.creativewrites.co.uk/space-write-wednesdays/

In all of our group workshops, you will be guided through a series of free flow exercises. You don’t need to prepare anything beforehand. There is no critique. Groups are small and tailor-made.

I have always been mesmerised by the theatre and run regular creative writing workshops at Richmond Theatre, which I love. If you would like to find out more about these, do email me: [email protected]

We are also returning to Park Theatre, N4 on Saturday 19 January, 2.15pm for another creative writing workshop and Matinee. Our first workshop in September 2018 went really well. The play this time is Rosenbaum’s Rescuehttps://www.parktheatre.co.uk/whats-on/rosenbaums-rescue  We will write along the themes of the play but it’s not a theatre review group! This isn’t bookable on our website – please email me for details. We only have a few places left: [email protected]

HERE’S SOME OF THE COMMENTS FROM OUR PARTICIPANTS AT THE PARK THEATRE WORKSHOP IN SEPTEMBER:

Writing around the play was an excellent experience. Good to meet people in the group before watching the play and then to use the play (which was excellent) to inform the ideas we all developed in the workshop. This is a brilliant collaborative way of working, between theatre and writing – the writing enhanced the play and the play enhanced the writing.

What a brilliant afternoon! Great play but such a rich creative experience that Nichola cultivated around it. Would love the chance to do this again!

I look forward to seeing you soon.

Here’s to a great start to 2019!

Nichola x
