And just like that, Spring is officially upon us! I think we can all agree that, after a pretty icy winter, the cool and sunny spring season is what we all need.

Whether you’re a homeowner or a tenant, there are a number of home maintenance jobs that can help to keep your property in top condition, and ensure that you’re ready to enjoy the warmer weather to come. It can be tough to know where to start. But fear nt, we’ve compiled a list of our top 10 things to do to prep your home for Spring.

Exterior Home Maintenance Tasks

Winter can certainly take a toll on the outside of your home so a big part of spring maintenance includes inspecting exterior areas to reduce the chance of damages and expensive repairs.  Let’s start with the jobs to complete outside the house…

Clean the Gutters

It’s common for gutters and downspouts to get clogged up in the winter months. Be sure to inspect them for any debris that may be building up so you don’t have to worry about any drainage problems this Spring.

Most exterior cleaning and repairs require specific tools so we’d recommend getting a cleaning professional in to get the job done!

Windows and Doors Maintenance

We’re finally opening up those windows and doors that had been kept firmly shut in the frosty winter, which means there may be some minor or major repairs needing to take place.

To keep the moisture and pests out this Spring, you’ll want to apply a new caulk to cracks or peeling areas, re-install screens, and lubricate door and window hinges.

Inspect Driveways and Paths

Freezing and thawing can be rough on concrete and any hardscaping materials so be sure to look for any damages to walkways, paths, and driveways. This also includes maintaining the lawn, checking all outdoor lighting, and looking for any signs of damage to the decking and scheduling the relevant repairs.

Home Interior Maintenance Tasks

While the winter season takes a toll on the outside of our home, there are also several tasks to get done on the inside too!

Deep Clean and Declutter

It’s a new season and with that comes a big decluttering job! Having a clearance and deep cleaning each room can not only help reduce stress and anxiety, but it also allows for better home air circulation.

This task can include moving furniture around, clearning rugs and carpets, and donating old clothes and unused appliances. This can certainly be a big job (especially the cleaning part!), so why not book a professional deep clean to save you time and effort?

With Rezigo, you can also get all the waste safely dosposed of by getting a waste clearance company in to handle it so you don’t have to deal with the aftermath!

Inspect the Interior Walls

Often any damage that happens to the outside of the home can lead to water leaks and issues in the interior spaces. For this reason, you’ll want to look into any signs of pests in the attic and contact a pest control company if need be. Also, be sure to check for any discoloration cracks, water damade, or mould on the ceilings and walls, too.

Touch up the Interior Paint

While this is more of an optional task in the Spring, now’s also a great time to spruce up your interior space with new colours and furnishings!
